MOSCOW: Second day attendance at the 5th SPE Russian Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Technical Conference and Exhibition at the All-Russian Exhibition Center in Moscow reached over 2,300 unique attendees, a 10 percent increase on the previous event in 2012.

Sustaining Brownfield Production was the central theme of the day, and plenary speakers from LUKOIL-Engineering, PermNIPIneft, Schlumberger Moscow Research and Salym Petroleum Development discussed technologies to rejuvenate, optimise and manage production from mature reservoirs. Technical sessions focused on the same theme, with in-depth discussion, case studies and presentations on specific technologies involving brown field production.

Wednesday’s Topical Lunch focused on Advanced Stimulation Technologies for Enhanced Unconventional Oil and Gas Recovery. Oleg Kravchenko, Scientific Consultant, Industrial Technologies Group Ltd., presented a chemical alternative to stimulating production without having to employ hydraulic fracking.

Also of keen interest was the Round Table concerning the new system for classifying in-place and recoverable reserves in Russia. The new system is due to become effective 1 January 2016.

Over 80 companies are participating in the exhibition. Exhibitors include Gazprom Neft JSC, JSC Tatneft, Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, Halliburton and Roxar. Sponsors include Rosneft and Schlumberger (Platinum), Baker Hughes and Roxar (Gold), Chevron and Weatherford (Sponsors).
