SPE Workshops on Next Generation of Drilling. Results

On 4–6 June 2019 SPE held the 5th Workshop on well construction and completion, entitled “Next Generation Drilling”. The Workshop took place in Rosa Khutor, Sochi, Russia and gathered 70+ delegates from key operating and service companies including Cubility, Baker Hughes, Gazprom Neft, Halliburton, LUKOIL, Oil Energy, OMV, NOV,  Rosneft, Salym Petroleum, Schlumberger, Skoltech, Surgutneftegas, Zarubezhneft and others.

Programme committee chaired by Mikhail Chertenkov, LUKOIL-Engineering, developed a profound technical program that covered topics from well construction and downhole problems prevention to logging, digitalisation and automation of drilling. For the first time, we've paid special attention to drilling and completion fluids and cementation, which raised a lively interest among delegates and many questions.

The programme committee highlighted the following presentations:

3. Egor Mikhalitsyn, M. Shirev, K. Gavrilyuk, M. Ryabov, Oil Energy. Frac balls dissolution speed validation in imitated downhole conditions
