On 4-5 June 2018 SPE held the fifth SPE workshop on Petrophysics. Over 70 experts from leading operating and service companies participated in this workshop.
At the workshop beginning the programme committee chair Alexey Khabarov from TNNC told about this workshop main goals:
The traditional issues covered at SPE Workshop on Petrophysics are unconventional reserves, multimineral models, unconventional reservoirs, and new log methods. However, we've seen that people are equally interested in automation and business process optimization. So we decided to make the issue of machine technology and digital technology the leading topic of the workshop. We will discuss primarily the algorithms and software which makes life of petrophysicists easier and more effective.
We work and live in a very dynamic world that makes you face a flood of information. We will try to find the vulnerabilities, the most time consuming elements. All the routine processes must be identified and automated to simplify the work for people.
The committee highlighted the high level of both technical and poster presentations. So the selection of best papers appeared to be a tough choice, and resulted in the following:
Session 1. Automation and digitalization of petrophysics problems
Evgeny Stremichev, D. Chuprinko, Gazpromneft STC: How not to drown in the lake of petrophysical information
Session 2. Advanced methods of core sampling and core analysis
Nikita Popov, PermNIPIneft: A modern approach to the study of reservoir properties of rocks
Session 3. Complex petrophysical projects
Irina Zahirovic, E. Tcukanova, K. Ezhov, E. Kharyba, S. Sesum, NIS STC: Actual Petrophysical Uncertainties and Challenges on the Example of the Pannonian Basin – Case Study
Session 4. Complex and unconventional reservoirs/ Special well logging techniques
Ivan Parubenko, TNNC: Turon. Integration of special well logging methods and special core analysis to solve interpretive tasks
Anton Filimonov, Schlumberger: Estimation of permeability and porosity in complex reservoirsю Permo-Carbon deposit with viscous oil, Timano-Pechorskoye field
We would like to express our gratitude the committee members and participants for their input!
