SPE Workshop: Mature Field Development Results

Posted on 13 December 2019

The second SPE Workshop: Mature Field Development took place in Tyumen on 4-5 December 2019. It gathered 60+ participants from leading operating and service companies. Delegates have discussed both current case studies and unresolved issues.

“The older fields we have, the more important development approaches choices we make. There are two main options in general – either expand instrumental measurements using new methods and technologies or develop more accurate and detailed geological models, so that it keeps valuable info when passing over to development. These models should reflect accurate information for decision-making purposes in well interventions”. Alexander Timchuk, Deputy General Director of ZapSibNIIGG

The following presentations were selected as the best at the workshop:

  1. Vladimir Krichevskiy, Polykod. Remaining reserves in place: the study of distribution through multiwell testing
  1. Alexander Korytov, D. Patrakov, A. Knyazev, I. Avsyanko, TNNC. Engineering approaches and tools  in waterflood management, large mature field case study
  1. Alexander Voznyuk, Schlumberger. Application of mathematical methods of EOR modelling to simulate various rheological effects of reservoir fluids
  1. Maksim Filatov, A. Raspopov,  A. Minina. Lukoil-Engineering. Experience in development of brownfields in the Perm region

At the Workshop in 2021, we are planning to talk about issues of scaling and transfer from seismic model to hydrodynamic and geological models, take on decision matrix for reserve density. We will also discuss mature field case studies of Bashkiria and Tatarstan.

SPE would like to express gratitude to the programme committee, workshop delegates and especially to workshop host – ZapSibNIIGG.

Looking forward to seeing you in 2021!
