SPE Held its First Online Course in the Region!

Posted on 22 May 2020

The first regional SPE online training course The Practical Aspects of Geomechanical Modelling for Drilling and Hydraulic Fracturing Problems Solution was successfully held on 12-15 May 2020.

The training was delivered by Ruslan Malikov and Artem Krasnikov from GeoNavTeh. Participants represented companies, including Gazpromneft STC, Geologika, VNIIneft, Nostrum oil and gas, etc.

Most of the course was focused on geomechanical modeling as it is. First, participants addressed the basics of the modelling process and functionality of geomechanical modelling software. Then they built various geomechanical models, calculated the rock and steam pressure, mechanical properties and stresses and analyzed the stability of the borehole, both with the help of instructors and independently. At the final day, participants completed a task and created a geomechanical model of key wells followed by detailed discussion with trainers and the group.

"The training course appeared to be well-organized and very useful on practical grounds.
Preprocessed data, well-chosen examples. Right amount of practice.
Good communication with both trainers: they managed to answer all the questions from participants. When any participant got an issues while building a model, a trainer connected remotely and helped.
I highly recommend this course for my colleagues with decent basic knowledge in geomechanics."

Ildar Fayzullin, Gazpromneft STC

Every participant received SPE Certificate.

All participants noted the effectiveness of the course. They said online format was useful, and they plan to use their new skills in everyday work.
