This November saw the first ever SPE Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition (CTCE) and SPE Regional Student Development Summit to be held in the Caspian region. The events explored the issues faced by the exploration and production (E&P) industry in Kazakhstan and the broader Caspian region.
CTCE was hosted by Shell, and held in partnership with the Kazakh Ministry of Energy and KAZENERGY. Over 400 industry professionals attended to hear from over 60 speakers drawn from the highest echelons of Government, operators, service providers, advisory firms, and energy research companies.
The SPE Regional Student Development Summit hosted 60 students from 21 student chapters across the region, with each student volunteering on their student chapter committee.The Summit covered a mix of networking events, soft skills training courses, group presentations, and technical sessions examining prevalent issues in the region.
Both events were extremely well received within both the professional industry and by the students of the region.
The Summit was supported by both the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KAZENERGY, and included sponsors such as KMG, MaerskOil, BG Kazakhstan and Schlumberger. A commitment was made by KMG’s First Deputy Chairman for 600 new SPE members.
