EAGE/SPE Joint Workshop on Shale Oil

Posted on 15 December 2014

The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and SPE are organizing a joint research workshop Exploration of Shale Oil Resources and Reserves. The workshop will be held on 13-15 April 2015 in Moscow, Russia.

According to expert estimates, Russia has the largest reserves of shale oil and thus has great potential for its production. We witness a growing interest for the development of unconventional hydrocarbon deposits, such as the Bazhenov formation in Western Siberia, the Kuonamskaya formation and the Domanic deposits of the Eastern European platform. One of the main issues is the development and application of new technologies for the exploitation of tight oil reserves.

Main topics

  • Geology and Geography of Oil Shales
  • Exploration, Development and Production Technologies
  • Reservoir prediction criteria
  • Reserves and Resources of Oil Shales
  • Methods for Estimating Resources and Prospects for Development
  • Environmental Issues in the Development and Production
