Society of Petroleum Engineers

SPE is a not-for-profit professional association whose members are engaged in energy resources development and production. SPE is a key resource for technical knowledge related to the oil and gas exploration and production industry, and provides services through publications, events, training courses and online resources at SPEorg. Income from SPE events and services are invested back into SPE to support many other society programs.
SPE joins together more than 164,000 members in 143 countries who participate in 200 sections and 379 university chapters. SPE’s membership includes more than 50,000 student members.
Taking into account the leading position and vigorous development of Russia and Caspian Region in the oil and gas industry, in 2007 SPE decided to open the representative office in Moscow. A little later, in 2008 Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan were set apart as the separate Region. The opening of SPE’s Moscow office marked international recognition of the importance of the Russian oil and gas industry. 
There are 23 SPE Sections in our region, in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. There have been set up 33 Student Chapters under the auspices of the regional specialised universities.
